More About Dry Valve Technology. Every regulator comes equipped with a "dust cap" to protect the first stage from water and contaminants when it is not in use. Unfortunately, we often forget to properly put the cap in place prior to rinsing or storing the regulator. Oceanic has solved this problem with their patented Dry Valve Technology. The Oceanic DVT places a water-tight seal in the high-pressure inlet of the first stage. When the cylinder valve is open and the regulator is pressurized, the DVT valve opens and the air flows smoothly around the valve. As soon as the cylinder is turned off and the air flows stops, the DVT moves into the high-pressure opening, protecting the first stage from water intrusion. Of course, it is always smart to also install the dust cap, but Oceanic provides this additional protection to make sure your regulator works like brand new throughout its service life.
