Products for Dive Trips

On scuba diving trips it’s important to bring appropriate equipment for the location of the dive. However, it is better to leave your tanks and weights at home and rent them at the dive site because they are heavy and bulky for travelling.

kirkscubagear recommends bringing your own mask and snorkel for reasons of hygiene. If you don’t yet own your own gear, most dive resorts have rental stock, but confirm this prior to your trip. Also pack a recent certification card, logbook, sunscreen, passport (for international travel) or photo identification, seasickness medications and a bathing suit. A voltage adapter may be useful for some destinations.

Some airlines charge for bags that weigh more than 22 kilograms (50 pounds) to most destinations. You may have to pay an added fee for your scuba bag if you have many bulky accessories, such as a large underwater photography system. For warm water destinations, it’s not difficult to stay within the weight limit. A dive knife or cutting tool must be stored in your checked baggage , and if you are bringing dive lights or camera strobes, remember to check your airline's battery policy before packing.  Make sure your PADI insurance is up to date.
