Neoprene wetsuits that are typically used where the water temperature is between 10 and 25 degrees Celsius (50 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit). The suit’s foamed neoprene insulates the wearer. Proper fitting is crucial for warmth. Water can enter the suit, so a loose suit enables too much water in to contact the skin, resulting in the loss of more body heat. A tighter wetsuit takes in less water and thus it reduces body-heat loss. But if it is too tight it is uncomfortable and potentially dangerous because it can impair circulation at the neck, which can cause a blackout.
