The Repair Process

1. Are there any other tools needed for the repair?

Ans : Yes, you will need some household items like a pair of cutters, a piece of cloth and turpentine.

2. I have a BCD that you do not have a repair kit for. Will you be developing other brands soon?

Ans : We have another 5 brands lined up. Some are already manufactured and currently undergoing quality testing. Do email us your inquiry and we will advise accordingly. If you are a dive center and you have volume for a particular brand, we will consider manufacturing just for you.

3. I have a BCD that you do not have a repair kit for. Can your repair kit be used to repair my BCD?

Ans : Yes it can be done. However, you may need to enlarge the current hole on the BCD and on top of that, you will need to purchase an inflator hose either from SeaQuest , US Diver, Mares or Oceanic (according to the repair kit you use) in order to use your BCD. In short, mix and match. We have already done numerous of these cross-over repairs especially for resorts and dive centers that have lots of spare inflator hoses from other brands.

4. I’m not confident of carrying out the repair by myself after watching the video provided.

Is there an authorized workshop to carry out the repair for me?

Ans : Although we have tested this repair on a non-diver with non-technical background and he managed to easily replace and repair the BCD, we understand these things happen. There are a few things you can do. You can bring your BCD to a dive shop repair center and see if they can help you out with a small cost or get a friend to help.

5. I ran out of glue during the repair, where can I get the adhesive?

Ans : Under accessories, you can order additional adhesive if you require it.  Rest assure that the amount of adhesive we provide is more than sufficient for the repair work.

6. Do you provide warranty for the repair kit?

Ans: Yes, the warranty for the product is five years, please refer to our terms and conditions of sales. Two years is a conservative figure, we actually expect our product to last four to five years. The moment you receive the repair kit, you will be able to tell that our valve material and quality will outlast any current original valves in the market.

This is our most popular product and customer satisfaction has always been 100% on this product. We know you won’t be disappointed with this product.

Manufacturers Warranty 5 years

  1. Randy Dale

I bought 4 of these kits to replace dump valves that had pulled out of 2 otherwise perfectly good Seaquest BCDs. The kits includes sandpaper to prepare the holes for the dump valves, a very strong plastic replacement valve with locking ring, and the necessary glue to afix it to the vest.

It took me about 10 minutes to prepare each of the dump valve holes in the BCDs, then about 10 minutes to install each valve. After 24 hours of curing, they were very securely attached to the vests, so I tested each BCD by inflating both & leaving them inflated for 24 hours. Both of them held almost all the air pressure, so I then tested them in the pool. All the dump valves operated properly and none of them leaked a bit.

I am very impressed with this product, because it has saved me an awful lot of money. The valves are very firmly glued into the vests and don’t move a bit.

Watch the how-to video on Youtube at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTaDqY0VFJ4

Here’s what I learned in doing these:
    1) have very bright lighting so you can really see what you’re doing
    2) you need very strong hands to turn the locking ring onto the base and get it firmly seated, while holding it in the center of the vest holes. If your hands aren’t strong, have someone help you.
    3) clean the threads of any glue quickly before installing the locking ring, so it’s easiest to turn
    4) make sure that the fabric edges of the vest holes all stay under the locking ring while you turn it, or else it will probably leak. Hold the threaded base firmly with your thumb while threading the ring so you can keep it centered in the hole.
    5) the glue dries very quickly, so don’t walk away during the installation – I figure you have 2-3 minutes to get it installed, so watch the video beforehand, so you know what you need to do.
    6) Set the BCD aside, valve up, for 24 hours and don’t mess with it.
    7) Give it 24 hours to dry before pressure testing.

Was it worth the money & effort? Without a doubt! I absolutely recommend this product.

  2. Bob Priolo

I just purchased and installed two scuba-fix units for the main low pressure inflator valves on two 15 year old Seaquest BCDs. Just did a pool test today and both BCDs held air without leaks. This repair saved me at least $800 US. The video and Randy’s tips really helped.

I would add one tip that when tighten up the locking ring, you want to make sure that enough thread is showing. This will be important later on when you connect the low pressure inflator device. Bottom line is to get that locking ring as tight as possible.

Overall, I’m very impressed and the customer service from Kathy was excellent.
