Connected Off the Grid

Watch Now

The last two generations have worked hard to build bigger, better, stronger, and faster structures, but at a high cost to the environment and society. At the end of the day, the dream isn’t always a cookie-cutter house, a nine-to-five job, a flashy car, and the monotony of daily life. A small number of people have decided to take a step back and live in a different way, foregoing the ideal of living the typical “American Dream” lifestyle.

Connected Off the Grid follows three distinct individuals who have found the perfect balance in our modern world of staying connected and disconnected at the right times. From Garth, a desert dweller who lives in a cement tipi, to Stan, a tree-sitter fighting to save the Redwood forest, to a family of four living on a boat moored out on the water in preparation for a world voyage.

Since the coronavirus pandemic has forced us to stay at home over the last year, some of us have seen the effects of our modern dependencies and are wondering if it would be better for our families, communities, and planet if we aimed to be a little more self-sufficient in how we live our daily lives.
